Well I thought that I would wright some more on here as I haven't done so in a while, very busy
getting everything sorted in the lead up to xmas. That is one very unique aspect to NZ. Pretty much the entire country closes for 1 to 2 weeks, shops open obviously, but main business, construction etc stops for weeks, which is Brilliant, as the sun shines for virtually all of this time and then a few months after that too!
Looks pretty gloomy outlook. It is a relief that the recession here is now alleviating. Although it is worth noting that in the Far North of the country construction work is still on a ‘go slow’. I estimate another 6 months or so before this begins to recover completely.
A good tip for general information is go to Google and type in Google NZ, seems surprising but this will provide different results, specific to this country, so this can really help you to find out more relevant information. Another thing to consider is look at “Trade me” this is the Kiwi equivalent to EBay, but its more. I managed to get my car from here, my home from here, even my job from here! Can’t see it with EBay somehow.
Well, like I’ve said before if you have any questions please feel free to ask away. I have been here 15 months now and still do not want to go back to the UK, sure at times I felt a little homesick, remembering family and friends and all the good things about the UK, but now I am also remembering the bad things as well, which is a lot.
The most important thing is to be adaptable and patient and do give things a chance. We had to relocate within the country after just 6 months of being here; we could have packed it in then and gone back to the UK, like some people have done according to some forums – bloody light weights! We stuck it out and I am so very pleased that we did, not looking back now.
Anyway that’s it for the time being, going to go for a pint then do some Xmas shopping, which includes loads of barbecue stuff ! hee hee.

Writing this on a cold and wet day in January in Wellington I'd think I'd rather be playing in the snow in the UK - at least its supposed to be winter there at the moment. 15C and pouring rain is not my definition of summer even if I grew up here - deeply regretting returning from Australia now!
Well, the rains stopped, and the sun is trying to shine at the moment! Yeah Wellington is a different climate to the Far North. That is where I want to go back to, but by pomy standards it is still good! My Cousin has just moved from UK to Melbourne, been there 6 months now and is finding the heat difficult.
Cheers,
Snapa
